Here we’ve collected a number of questions that our customers have asked us over time. Take a look through, this page could answer some of yours as well. Can’t find an answer? Send us an email.

How long have you been in business?
Our facility opened its doors in July of 2009

What happened to that empty space in the middle?
We built another studio there. We promised, remember?

We got stuck in traffic and got here late, do we have to pay for the reserved hour of studio time that we missed?
What do you think? Of course you do! You booked the studio, which means nobody else can use it as long as it stays booked. It is your responsibility to be on time.

What is your cancellation policy?
Parallel Sound Group has a 24 hour cancellation policy, here is the full text. Please read it carefully, before making any reservations. If you know you won't be coming please log on our site and cancel your reservation no later then 24 hours before your session is scheduled to begin to avoid any charges. It takes less than a minute.

I missed my reserved studio time and forgot to cancel my reservation, am I still obligated to pay?
Yes you are. In fact your account was already automatically charged for this reservation 24 hours before it was set to begin. No shows are non-refundable, subject to the 24 hour cancellation policy.

Can we come a little early to setup?
You can try, and if the studio is available we'll certainly let you in a few minutes early, but it is not guaranteed that the band using the studio at the time will leave earlier, so be prepared to wait.

It is 5 minutes before our scheduled session and the door is closed! Where the hell are you!?
First of all relax and don’t panic. We know you’re there. Just as you said, it is 5 minutes before. The staff member will be there shortly to let you in just in time for your session. It is possible that your band is first in the schedule today, so the staff might not be present yet.

We decided to wrap up our session early (for whatever reason), do we still have to pay for any remaining studio time?
Yes you do. You pay for the time you've reserved. We have enough bands that want to use our place, but as long as it stays booked by you - no one can use it. We require a 24 hour notice for changes and cancellations. If you're not sure how much time you'll need for your session – book less. You can always extend your stay if you see you need more time and no one reserved the studio after you.

We stopped by during business hours to check out the studio but it was closed. Why?
Studio tours can be done by appointment only. No walk-ins please. If no bands are scheduled for the day, the staff might not be present at all. Also, even if the staff are present, we will not be able to show you any studios that are in use at the time. To ensure your visit is productive, please contact us first to schedule an appointment.

I'd like to speak to a live person, but every time I call I get the message box. Why?
Our business hours are M-F: 5pm to 11pm and Sat, Sun: 1pm to 11pm. If you're calling outside of this timeframe — there is a good chance you're going to end up in a message box. If this happens during business hours, the phone might be off during a recording session. So the best you can do is to leave a message with your name and the phone number where we can reach you and we will call you back shortly. If you do not leave a message – you will not be contacted. Another option is to email us. All emails will be answered shortly regardless of business hours.

How much does it cost to rent a studio for practice?
The studios are rented hourly: studio A: $25.00/hour, studio B: $23.00/hour, studio C: $23.00/hour, studio D: $25.00/hour.

How do I reserve a studio for a practice session?
Studio reservation can be done straight from our site. Just click the Reservations tab above and follow on-screen instructions. It is very simple. Or click here to see a narrated Studio Reservation Tutorial. Please contact us first if you'd like to schedule a recording session.

I would lke to prepay my future reservations in cash, can I do that?
Certainly. You can make an advance cash payment while you're at the studio towards your next session. You don't have to pick the date and time for your next reservation, you'll be able to do that later from the web site once you're ready. You will not be asked to provide a form of payment again since your account will already have funds.

We're coming to practice at your facility for the first time, is there anything special we need to know? Only a few things:
  • Be on time.
  • Don't block other people's cars on the parking lot, there is enough space for everyone around the building.
  • No drugs or alcohol are permitted on the premises, period.
  • Allow yourself some wrap-up time without exceeding your reserved time slot.
  • Respect other musicians, our equipment and the place. Be a professional. Read our house rules.
Can I bring my own equipment to the practice?
Yes you can, in fact many bands do. We provide all the basic stuff, but if you really like the sound of your amp, you can certainly bring it for the practice.

Do you provide microphones or should I bring my own?
You can bring your own mic or we can provide one for you, just ask the staff.

Can I bring my drum set?
We do provide a drum set and basic cymbals for you. You certainly can bring your snare and cymbals if you wish, but it is highly advisable not to bring the entire set. Most likely you don't want your band mates to be waiting for you while you set it up.

I like the bass amp in the other studio, can I take it for practice?
Sorry, but no. If you prefer any particular piece of equipment over the other please book the studio where this equipment is set up next time.

I forgot to bring my guitar, can you provide me one for the practice?
We do not offer any instruments other than drums.

I have made a reservation for next week, but I see that my credit card/PayPal account was charged immediately, why is that?
When you make reservation at our facility, we invoice your financial institution immediately. We will charge your credit card or PayPal account (whichever you used to reserve the studio) and put these funds on your internal account with us. That internal account will be charged automatically 24 hours before your scheduled reservation. You still can cancel your reservation up until the 24 hour mark before your session, and if you do, the funds will remain on your internal Parallel Sound account. You’d be able to use them next time you make reservation. In order to reserve the studio for you, we have to secure the funds for that reservation and the only way for us to do it is to make the charge immediately at the time of booking.

I just cancelled my reservation, but my account still shows the balance, was my credit card charged?
Yes it was, please read the answer to the question above. If you cancelled in time, these funds will remain on your Parallel Sound account and will be available for your next reservation.

I don’t have any reservations pending and I don't plan to use your facility in the future, can I get the remaining balance on my account to be refunded back to my credit card/PayPal account?
If you absolutely sure you won't be coming again, you can request in writing to refund back any remaining balance from your account to the original form of payment in the event the transaction was made less than 7 days ago. Any original transaction made over 7 days in the past will not be refunded.

How much do you charge for recording?
We offer our recording services for $45.00 per hour. That already includes studio rent and engineer.

So if you are to record us playing live for an hour it'll cost us $45.00?
Everyone likes free stuff, there is no shame in it. But if your budget is really tight, you can record yourself for free in your basement, so why go to the studio? Let's be realistic: recording work is charged by the hour and any postproduction work is not free. You will be paying for the studio time you reserved and any mixing or mastering time that will follow. We will be able to give you the price upfront for any recording projects after we discuss it with you. No hidden charges or hidden fees. We also may be able to offer a fixed rate for some projects. Please hear for yourself before you decide on your basement option.

We are interested in recording, what will be the average price to get one song done?
Every project is unique, there is no standard template that everyone will fit under. Every band comes with different needs. If you'd like to receive a quote on a recording project, please contact us and describe your situation. We'd need to know your lineup (if you have a band), what exactly you're looking to do, your desired timeframe and your budget. The more information you can provide us with, the more accurate our quote will be.

Why are you putting all these mics on a drum set? Drums are not an important part of our band, why spend so much time setting them up?
Wow! Please make sure at least your drummer is not in the room. One question we have for you: can you drive a car with 3 tires instead of 4? Yes you can, it will be drivable, but the question is how far will you go and how enjoyable would your ride be? There is a reason you came to do a record in the studio, and that reason is sound quality. So please, leave that attitude at home and let us do our job, or get a pair of cheap mics ($30.00), a pair of cheap cables ($20.00), record yourself into GarageBand at your basement (free) and produce a cheap amateur record (priceless). For everything else, there is Parallel Sound.
